The SMR family Story
Brent Grizzle
Brent Grizzle was born and raised in the Imperial Valley of California. His family arrived in 1911, and is still farming the fertile soils near Holtville today. After earning a degree in Agricultural Engineering Technology from Cal Poly University of San Luis Obispo, Brent returned to the family farm. He spent 12 years growing and marketing hay, grain and vegetables. His family also grows premium wine grapes in Paso Robles.
Almost 10 years ago, Brent’s diversified interests led him to develop one of the most successful new residential communities in El Centro, California. Working with a seasoned civil engineer, he was able to learn the challenges of bringing land through the development process.
In 2002, while working on a second neighborhood in El Centro, Brent expanded his focus to include the southern San Joaquin Valley. He then went on to plan and process new neighborhoods in Porterville and Tulare. “Bringing new life to the small towns is both encouraging for the towns themselves and deeply fulfilling for me,” said Brent.
Truly enjoying the process of providing much-needed, quality housing for the growing population of California, Brent followed his heart back to the Central Coast. In 2003, while visiting family in the area, he became acquainted with the San Miguel Ranch property. He immediately recognized the special potential of this land, with its gently rolling contours and unique location adjacent to the town of San Miguel.
“This property is a natural addition to the town because of it’s location to the freeway and near public utilities,” said Brent, “Allowing existing towns to grow is a logical way to solve some of the housing shortage in the county, while providing trade-up opportunities for existing residents.”
Brent and his family currently live in the San Diego area, and love traveling to the Central Coast on a consistent basis. The Grizzles look forward to having a home in the beautiful San Miguel Ranch project. “With its natural beauty, open space and trails, the San Miguel Ranch will be a relaxing retreat,” said Brent. |
